Use a notebook page for a small-ringed binder, making sure the holes are on the left side and the large white space is at the top. Write the following in succession using clearly legible handwriting:

1. frequenting or non-frequenting student, academic year of course, old system or new system (and in this case, which module/s), or biennialization of old system, or single course, graduate student, etc.; foreign students (Erasmus, etc.) must ask the professor which other information they should include;

2. first and last name in capital letters, email address, telephone number (cell and home number, if available); students specializing in sociolinguistics should also include their home address;

3. course year, denomination of degree course;

4. denomination of curriculum;

5. eventual thesis discipline, indicating in parentheses the thesis advisor, and eventual thesis argument;

6. linguistics exams already taken (indicating in parenthesis the professor and, as a must for students specializing in sociolinguistics and optional for all others, the grade received);

7. linguistics courses currently being taken; if no linguistics courses have been taken in the past and no other linguistics courses are currently being taken, write "prima esperienza linguistica";

8. which high school diploma was received before attending university;

9. foreign language(s) known, indicating in parentheses your personal evaluation of your proficiency level in each language;

10. at the bottom of the page, beneath the heading "Mi alterno con:" indicate the name/s of one or two students with whom you will share notes in case of any missed classes;

11. On the backside of the page, beneath the heading "Educazione linguistica formale e informale:" frequenting students are invited to indicate (progressively, throughout the course of the semester) any experiences undergone in public or private educational centers and institutes (courses of any type) or any personal experiences (Italian linguistic area of origin and any active or passive competencies in a dialect, lengthy travels abroad, cultural consumptions, specific interests, work or volunteer activity, etc.) that you feel have been important, to varying degrees, in the formation of your concrete linguistic competency (and not only that pertaining to school). Working students can indicate any information they feel it useful to specify (type of employment, etc.). In short, this page is a form of personalized, supplementary communication between the students and the professor, and therefore is completely voluntary (consequently, it can also be left blank).

12. to all, but above all to working students with substitute exams, the attendance of one exam session is highly advised before the actual graded exam is taken, in order to make one aware of the level of competency required and of the degree of technicality of the discipline.

As the Bibliographies are differentiated and often contain readings of one's own choosing, students are asked to bring to the exam the written list of their personalized bibliography.
